Albanian National Forest Inventory – ANFI

The project consists in the assessment of the present land cover conditions and of the current status of the national forest and pasture resources knowledge in order to provide the forest administration and other concerned institutions an up-dated efficient tool for planning and managing land resources. The main proposed services are: Geodata analysis and processing; (ii) information system design and development; (iii) land cover mapping (GIS); (iv) Forest Inventory; (iv) special studies on forest production, Social and economic relevance of Non-Timber Forest Products, Grazing impact on Wooded Lands (Rangelands) and Carbon sequestration in the context of the Kyoto Protocol, and (v) the development, together with the interested national institutions of the Forestry and Pasture General Plan. The project is also characterised by a strong training component.
