Capacity Strengthening of the Veterinary Border Inspection (VBI) Ref: EuropeAid/123301/D/SER/HR

The Overall Objective of the project is: (i) To contribute to improve movement of goods at border crossings to
the benefit of improved animal health and consumer protection. The “Project Purpose” constitutes the development outcome at the end of project implementation and the expected benefits to the target groups. Project Results are:(i) existing BIPs are analysed and 3 long-term BIPs are identified; (ii) PRAG-compliant tender dossiers for the building of long-term BIPs have been prepared; (iii) EU-conform VBI legislation is proposed, adopted and enforced; (iv) comprehensive training programme for VBI personnel including TNA is prepared & agreed upon; (v) local training programme for VBI staff is fully implemented; (vi) abroad training programme (study visits) for BIP inspectors and HQ of VBI officers is implemented; (vii) VBI manual on EU-compliant border control procedures is prepared; (viii).needs for additional laboratory, IT & office equipment are identified & relevant TD are prepared.
