Land Use Policy – Phase II

The overall objective of the project is to enhance the policy formulation capabilities of Albanian institutions, in order to improve country-wide conservation practices and ensure the sustainable management of natural resources. The project purpose is to establish a GIS-based Land Use Policy tool to support land-use policy formulation and planning, relying upon the creation of a critical mass of expertise in land use planning methods, including decision-makers, planners and GIS professionals. This will also entail the strengthening of the legal and institutional framework to ensure data exchange between the public and private agencies working on GIS, while guaranteeing their copyrights. The GIS tool will facilitate such exchange of information, by monitoring the trends of ecosystems & integrating in one national database the information generated by other geographical data sources.
