Pilot Fruit and Vegetable Processing Plant in the Ambato Area

Feasibility study, design, technical assistance and supervision of a pilot fruit and vegetable processing plant in the Ambato area for the marketing of perishable food commodities in selected provinces. The pilot plant comprised two main sections: (i) handling, storage and marketing of fresh produce; and, (ii) processing of fruit and vegetables. The project comprises vertically integrated activities undertaken from the production to he marketing stages. The beneficiaries of the project were approximately 1,000 small and medium-size farmers.
