Rice Milling Industry in Borno State

The study consisted in evaluating the technical and economic feasibility of establishing a rice mill in the Gashua area of Borno State. The aims of the project were to overcome constraints to the development of the rice industry in the project area by providing adequate processing and market facilities and establishing an organisation to absorb and upgrade the area’s produce. The suggested processing techniques involved parboiling the paddy prior to milling and reducing kernel breakage during the mechanical dehulling and polishing operations.
