Capacity Building of Phytosanitary and Veterinary Border Inspection

For specific objective 1 – Phytosanitary Border Inspection: (i) gaps and needs analysis of the existing legislation on phytosanitary control in relation to the existing EU rules and procedures and (ii) review of existing situation in the institutions involved in phytosanitary control issues, evaluation of the structure, mutual linkages, staff qualification and skills in relation with phytosanitary legislation and to draft the most appropriate organisational structure of phytosanitary inspection service according to EU recognised standards and measures.
For specific objective 2 – Veterinary BIPs: (i) gaps and needs analysis in the field of veterinary inspection service in relation to the existing EU rules and procedures regarding cross border moving of animals and products of animal origin. This will be followed by drafting of regulatory measures in view of aligning Croatian legislation with EU acquis. (ii) Training for border veterinary inspectors on laboratory testing of the consignment on BIPS.
